What is Neck Liposuction?
Liposuction can be performed in the neck to decrease the amount of fatty tissue and help to contour the jawline. This technique involves a very small incision to insert the liposuction cannula. The incision can be concealed in the submental crease or behind the ears. Good candidates include patients that have submental adiposity with minimal neck skin laxity.
What to Expect:
The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. A small incision is made in the submental crease or behind the ears. A small liposuction cannula is used to remove excess fat in this area. The duration of this procedure is usually 1 hour.
A head wrap will be placed around the neck for gentle compression. This head wrap will be worn at limited intervals for 2-3 weeks. Swelling in the neck region is common, however it will gradually improve with time.
